Data Science is a new discipline that is particularly based on mathematical modeling, statistics, computing and visualization. It aims to transform large datasets in relevant knowledge. This passage from data to knowledge carries many scientific and technological challenges that require an interdisciplinary approach. This science is in full development, in academia and in the private and the public sector.

The Francophone international conference AAFD & SFC is a scientific appointment to bring together researchers and industry partners working in data science around a target theme that is for this edition "Data Science: Mathematical and algorithmic challenges"

This conference brings together two scientific events:

- The 7th biennial conference "Machine Learning & Data Mining" (AAFD). This conference takes place around a cycle of guest speakers on topics related to data science.

- The 23rd Annual meeting of the Francophone Classification Society (SFC) which aim to present recent results in classification or applications in related areas, promote scientific exchange with various external partners.

For this first edition AAFD & SFC we launch an open call for papers to all contributions in connection with the themes of the conference. We will encourage article submissions on any topic related to data science, whether theoretical or applied work. Submissions and Presentations can be made in French or English.

The acceptance of presentations is based on extended abstracts (6 pages). Following the conference, a selection of a set of papers will be offered for publication (long version in English) as a post-acts in an international journal.
